Micah McGrath

In a world of fast production, his shop runs on one stubborn rule: every single stitch is done by hand, with no machines at all. It's slower, it's harder, and it's exactly the point.

The Philosophy

No machines, no shortcuts

Most leather shops, even good ones, run their seams on a machine. McGrath doesn't. His entire practice is built on doing the slow thing well — cutting by hand, stitching by hand, and choosing materials and hardware for how long they'll last rather than how fast they'll sell. In his shop's own words:

"Every single stitch is done by hand."— Micah McGrath Leather Works (micahmcgrath.com)
"All hand-made with no machines."— Micah McGrath Leather Works (micahmcgrath.com)

Something Interesting

Picky about every part

McGrath is unusually deliberate about where his materials come from, working only with leather from established family-run tanneries — Pergamena, Il Ponte, Horween, Wickett & Craig — and applying the same scrutiny to the metal. Nothing on the piece is an afterthought:

"Every hide and piece of hardware is chosen with function and durability as the priority."— Micah McGrath Leather Works (micahmcgrath.com)

His Standard

Made to be used hard

The point of all that hand-work is endurance. McGrath designs for a lifetime of daily use — beauty and durability over decoration — and stands behind it plainly:

"I believe your accessories should last a lifetime, while being durable and beautiful."— Micah McGrath Leather Works (micahmcgrath.com)
